Screen Shot 2016-09-21 at 10.32.41 AMWe’re back! The Old Alabama Town Revue, featuring yours truly and the Old Alabama Town Revue Crue, starts its 2016-2017 season on October 6 at 7 p.m. in the church on Columbus Street in Old Alabama Town.

The big news is that this season is going to be filmed by Troy University’s television station. We are so excited! We have some fun stuff planned for the filming and some new songs.

The theme for the October show is “Haunted.” I have been intrigued at the different kinds of songs the OAT Revue Crue have created. Tim Henderson composed a ghostly tale about a sad love story set in late 19th century Chapel Hill, NC. I have cranked out a kind of rock n’ roll number about a lost love. Toni Wood composed a very cool “doo-wop” tune featuring a lover who knows there is another lover! The Pellets are shining on that one with cool “shoo-wap dooby doos” galore. Rockin Larry’s gonna tell us a tragic Alabama story set after World War II. Stephen Bray will be his country best crooning about a lost love and broken heart. The songs are so different, and yet all songs are about “Haunted.” Marty Martin will be thumping that cool stand-up bass, and Tony Castaldo will rock-out, doo-wop out, folk-out, and country-out, and manage to keep us all on the beat!

Now, there is a really good chance that Greta Lambert will make an appearance with a ghostly reading. If any of you just happen to see her, put some pressure on. We really want Greta!

The other news is that I have a new guitar. Her name is Myrtle. She is a Breedlove parlor style guitar made of (of course) myrtle wood in the Pacific Northwest, where evidently myrtle trees grow in abundance. Myrtle trees may be plentiful, but my Myrtle is a limited edition. Yes, she is very special.

Old Alabama Town is especially stellar in the fall. The Herb Society puts up scarecrows, and the fall gardens are showy. Please come to the Revue, but make plans to visit Old Alabama Town sometime during the autumn season.

The Old Alabama Town Revue Crue will be taking advantage of OAT’s autumnal beauty for the filming. We are planning some fun shots to add to the performance. The show will be aired on channel 96 on WOW and channel 181 on Charter. Later on, it will be on YouTube.

So come see us at the start of our new season, “Haunted.” The Old Alabama Town Revue starts at 7 p.m. in the church on Columbus Street in Old Alabama Town. It’s a new season and a new show, but those same old wood pews will be waiting for you. So, don’t forget your cushion.
