Leadership Seminar for Old House Lovers
This year Montgomery’s Historic Preservation Commission is sponsoring a Historic Preservation Leadership Seminar. Just what, you might ask, is this Historic Preservation Leadership Seminar about?
The seminar is an informative seven week program to familiarize the citizens of Montgomery with its history and the importance of preserving the city’s built environment. Each weekly session will be held on the campus of historic Huntingdon College beginning at 5:30 on Wednesday evenings, April 3-May 14. Sessions will be led by experts in the field (see below) and will be 60 to 90 minutes in length.
April 3: History of Montgomery

April 10: Architectural History of Montgomery’s Historic Districts

In observance of May as National Preservation Month, graduation will be held on Tuesday, May 14, at the monthly Historic Preservation Commission meeting in conjunction with the annual Historic Preservation Awards. The presentations and reception will be at 5:30 in the City Council Auditorium, City Hall at 103 North Perry Street.
Registration is limited to 25 participants and the deadline to register is March 15. Registration form is available at http://www.montgomeryal.gov/how-do-i/submit/historic-preservation-commission and a fee of $25 must be submitted with application. The registration fee will include an awesome historic neighborhood t-shirt and a really cool bag full of all sorts of goodies for old house lovers.
