Picture of the Week – 4/24/19

This is an image from September 2018. It was taken at the Lower Dexter Cruise-In. This event happens on the first Friday of every month in downtown Montgomery. The next one is on May 3rd at 5:30 p.m.

When I took this photo, I was stopped in my tracks by all of the visual contrasts going on. I was only downtown on that day and time by happenstance. What stopped me was how the car’s chrome looked smooth and cool while the red tail light of another car peeked through with a bright burst of red that looks hot to the touch. The air had a bit of haze to it, the kind that happens in Montgomery after Labor Day when it cools down a bit at sunset. It felt good to see the last rays of sunlight glinting off the BB&T window at the same time as the facade light of the Kress and street lamps were glowing.
