Update: Saturday Mayoral Forum

The other day we wrote about upcoming opportunities to find out more about the folks who want to be Montgomery’s next mayor. There’s a Saturday forum at the Jubilee Center, and we just got some more information about it from the hosts. Key parts for our readers –

  1. Seven candidates will appear before a panel at their “appointed time” to answer questions in an interview format. This will be a “one at a time” format, so that you’ll really get to know each person who is competing to lead our city.
  2. This forum will be streamed live via social media and people will, supposedly, be allowed to ask questions online.

Here’s the lineup:

  • 10:45am – Bibby Simmons
  • 11:10am – Victorious Felder
  • 11:35am – Elton Dean
  • 11:55am – 12:10 Break
  • 12:10pm – Steven Reed
  • 12:35pm – Artur Davis
  • 1:00pm – J.C. Love
  • 1:25pm – Ron Davis

Again, that is tomorrow, August 10, at The Sanctuary – 432 Goldwaithe St. Light refreshments and voter registration will be available.

Also keep the date saved for the League of Women Voters of Alabama will forum on August 14, co-hosted by WSFA and Troy University at the Davis Theater. This one will be televised live on WSFA from 8 p.m. until 10, and it’s going to be a more traditional format, with candidates all appearing on stage at the same time. It’s a forum, and not a debate, but it’s probably safe to expect some clashes of ideas and personalities.

The election is August 27.
